The Writing Inclusivity and Equity Project (WIEP) is a multi-campus higher education research project with three main goals:

  1. Learn the extent to which first-year writing curricula at California colleges and universities incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion into their course content, course policies, curriculum design, and grading methods
  2. Examine the impact of factors like institution type and mission, faculty training and background, program and institutional policies on inclusion in FYW courses
  3. Include institutions representing the broad variety of higher ed institutions in California: public and private 4-year schools, 2-year and community colleges

Our current focus is syllabus analysis using qualitative research methods (via human and machine coding).
